Views of aging Vegas Strip hotels rumored to be on the upcoming implosion watch list PRIOR to the economic meltdown. Starting at the south end, the grand old Tropicana–owned now by Columbia-Sussex…..next is Ballys–owned by Harrahs Entertainment….the older T-shaped building her from the Strip (which was the original MGM back in the 70s) is slated for possible demolition. The blue-glowing Imperial Palace–also owned by Harrahs (like most of the central Strip!)……The venerable Riviera up on the north Strip (owned by Riviera Holdings). And finally the massive Circus Circus complex owned by MGM-Mirage….definitely showing its age. I stayed on the top floor at the Stardust with a great view of the strip the final two nights before it closed Nov 1, 2006 to say goodbye to one of my favorite Las Vegas Hotel/Casinos. This is a compilation of my time there. The old las vegas many of us prefer is quickly disappearing- I hope long time visitors of this city will enjoy this last look at one of the original resorts on the Strip.

The New Frontier was imploded Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. The 65-year-old casino, the second property built on the famous Las Vegas Strip, was the venue where Elvis Presley made his Las Vegas debut in 1956. It also housed entertainers like Siegfried and Roy, and Wayne Newton; was once owned by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes; and featured one of the longest union strikes in U.S. history.

Replacing The New Frontier is a New York Style Plaza Hotel! In Las Vegas, it’s always “OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!” This has been the first Frontier Hotel Implosion video on Youtube so far. To be onest, I am sick of all these people buying the old hotels, replacing them with fancy ones. Just look at the Frontier Sign on the hotel! That’s Nevada’s Font in the city! I drive by this part of the city like 4 times a month, and the Frontier, is very very, tiny compared to the hotels surrounding it…… so I guess, it really needed to go…..Well, it used to be…… I’ll miss you Frontier. This building is 65 Years old.
