Question by jamesawild: las vegas Car Rental?
I am looking for a good car rental company at Las Vegas Airport, McCarran International. I am not looking for the cheapest, but the best for service and quality. In the past year or so I have used Holiday Autos, Avis, Hawk and Europcar; and was disappointed in all of them. I don’t think that I am hard to please: I just want a clean, servicable and reliable car and courteous customer service. I have received all this from 1car1 here in London – they are really good. Can you recommend, from your experience (not ad’s) a good firm in Vegas? Thanks very much.

There are a plethora of car rental agencies at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas. The one that will probably best meet your needs is Hertz. They are not the cheapest and if you join their “Hertz #1 Club” on line you can get an increased level of service.
Good Luck in Vegas!

When I was a tourist here, I used Alamo or National – they’re now pretty much the same company. Everyone is nice and helpful. I always got a decent car that was clean and in great shape for the best price. I DO NOT recommend Dollar – not only are they overpriced and keep an arm and a leg on your credit card as a “deposit” (they tried to hold $ 500 on a $ 30 rental once, and their reasoning was that they “were giving me a $ 19,000 car.” To which I said, “Yeah, and? I drive a $ 30,000 SUV at home!”) and that’s if they even HAVE cars available – they oversell so often they run out of cars and don’t discount fot you when you have to wait for a car.
All the major car rental companies are at the airport. In my opinion they are all the same. Go with whatever gives you the best rate.
I was there in April 2009. I rented from Budget, which is on the cheaper side. But I have nothing negative to say about the product. The car was new and had less than 4,000 miles. I rented a mid-sized. The line to check in was very long and took about 20 minutes, but this seems to be a theme in Las Vegas. The hotel and restaurants were the same way.
But the car ran great, looked nice, and was clean.
I would use Enterprise
hertz and avis are the best. at this airport and any in the USA.
I’ve rented cars everywhere.
The best cheap choice are Fox rental (cheaper but very good rental company, u can trust on it, very good cars for a good price) and Enterprise. If you decide spend more money on your retal (this won’t be my choose) try alamo, Avis and Hertz, great new cars but I think too expensive.
Enterprise or Dollar.
I like Budget, because i can drive one way from Los Angles and leave the car at the airport.
Try fox. The cars have a few more miles but the rates are good.
Try Dollars Rent A Car. They are good as well. I had no problems with Avis.
